Greetings, Midland Families!

We had a great week at school! Safety Week was a great success, and our students did an excellent job learning about and practicing important safety habits. Throughout the week, they participated in activities and discussions that helped them understand how to stay safe at school. It was great to see their enthusiasm and thoughtful participation.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend with family and friends!

Spring Safety Week Update & Friendly Reminders

Last week our students participated in our annual Spring Safety Drills, and I want to share how proud we are of them. Each class did an excellent job practicing the different safety procedures, and students took every drill seriously and followed directions thoughtfully. Practicing these drills is an important part of keeping our school community safe should a real emergency ever occur, and our students demonstrated responsibility and maturity throughout the week.

I would also like to remind families to please take a moment to review and update your child’s emergency contact information if needed. Having accurate names and phone numbers on file is essential so that we know exactly who is authorized to pick up your child during the school day if an emergency situation arises.

Finally, thank you for continuing to use our bell-ringer camera system when arriving at the main office. For the safety of our campus, all visitors are asked to state their name and the reason for their visit before entering the building. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and secure environment for all students and staff.

PTA

PTA Treasured Tales Bookfair THANK YOU! ✨📚

What a huge success thanks to you! Our school community banded together in the best way...together we sold over $20,000 in books — and that’s what we call BOOKTASTIC! 📚🎉

Because of your support, the impact goes far beyond the fair itself:

📖 40+ books went to students who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to shop

📚 115 books were added to classroom libraries

🏫 110 books were donated to the school library

💰 Thousands of dollars in fair rewards are now available for our librarian Mrs. Crafts to order even more amazing books for our students!

None of this would have been possible without our incredible volunteers. Thank you to everyone who:

✨ Helped plan and prep

✨ Created the amazing decorations

✨ Ran the cash registers

✨ Assisted students at shopping times

✨ Helped at our Goodies & Grownups events

✨ And stayed to clean up and pack it all away!

It truly takes a village, and we are so grateful for this community that shows up for our kids and their love of reading. 💙

Until next year… keep reading! 📖

Digital Citizenship reminders

Managing screen time is an essential part of supporting children’s well-being and academic success in today’s digital world. Technology offers incredible opportunities for learning and creativity, but maintaining a healthy balance is key. Setting clear boundaries and encouraging mindful tech habits at home helps children develop the skills they need to navigate their digital lives responsibly. By working together to create a balanced approach to technology use, we can empower students to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

2026 - 2027 Class Placement Information

I want to share an important update regarding our class placement process for the 2026-2027 school year, as well as to provide insight into the thoughtful decisions that go into building balanced classes with the best interests of each student in mind.

At Midland, we are deeply committed to a culture of collaboration and intentionality, ensuring every decision we make is thoughtful and in the best interest of our Rattlers. Each spring, our teaching teams engage in deep, meaningful conversations as they thoughtfully build class rosters for the upcoming school year. These discussions are rooted in data, professional insight, and a genuine understanding of each student as a learner. Teachers consider academic strengths, social development, learning styles, and peer dynamics to ensure students are placed in environments where they can continue to grow and thrive in the next grade level.

Our staff is collectively committed to providing an exceptional educational experience for every student at Midland. With this goal in mind, we will not be accepting individual teacher requests. This decision was made with great care to ensure that classroom placements are balanced and equitable across the entire grade level. Creating balanced and equitable classes ensures that every student benefits from a diverse, high-quality learning environment where they have the best possible opportunity to succeed.

I appreciate and value your continued trust and partnership as we move forward together to set your child up for a successful school year. Please know that our shared goal remains the same: to build learning environments that support the success, well-being, and growth of each and every Midland Rattler.
