Greetings, Midland Families!

I can’t believe we have already arrived in the month of May!

On Friday, I had the pleasure of attending my first Volunteer Tea, a long-standing tradition at Midland Elementary. What a wonderful event and meaningful opportunity to celebrate and thank our incredible volunteers, parents, friends, and community members who give so much to support our school. Your time, energy, and dedication make a lasting difference, and we are so grateful. Your partnership is essential as we work each day to support the needs and growth of our students. Thank you for all that you do to help make Midland such a special place.

Wishing you all a great weekend and GO Rattlers!

Fall 2026 ESS Interest Application

The Fall 2026 ESS Interest Application is now open and will remain open through June 7. All interested families may apply at any time during this initial application window. There is no advantage or disadvantage to applying earlier or later within this period, as all applications will be processed simultaneously.

Parents are encouraged to wait until their child’s enrollment has been completed by the school site and they have received access to their ParentVUE account before attempting to use the ESS Application Management System.

Families who apply during the initial application window will be notified on Monday, June 15th whether their student has been offered placement in the ESS program for the 2026–27 school year or has been placed on the waitlist.

If you have any questions regarding ESS enrollment, please email [email protected].

A Friendly Reminder About Recess and Lunch Items

As we continue working together to maintain a focused and positive learning environment for all students, I kindly ask for your support with a small but important reminder. Please encourage your children to leave play toys, balls, and other athletic equipment at home.

While these items are fun, they can quickly become a distraction during the school day and may create challenges during recess and lunch. Our school provides appropriate equipment and structured opportunities for play, ensuring that all students can enjoy these times safely.

Thank you for your understanding and partnership in helping us keep our campus a place where all students can learn, play, and thrive.

Need a NEW Backpack?!

We are thrilled to share that our local Costco has generously donated over 100 beautiful, brand-new backpacks to Midland Elementary!

We are incredibly grateful to our fantastic Midland Elementary Foundation, and especially to Jill Hudgins, for her outstanding work in building this meaningful partnership with Costco. Thanks to their efforts, many of our students will head to school feeling confident and prepared.

There are four fun styles to choose from:

  • Green

  • Astronauts

  • Dark Grey

  • Hearts

If your child is in need of a new backpack, please complete the Google Form linked below so we can connect you with this wonderful resource.

We are so thankful for the generosity and community spirit that continues to support our Midland students!

2026 - 2027 Class Placement Information

I want to share an important update regarding our class placement process for the 2026-2027 school year, as well as to provide insight into the thoughtful decisions that go into building balanced classes with the best interests of each student in mind.

At Midland, we are deeply committed to a culture of collaboration and intentionality, ensuring every decision we make is thoughtful and in the best interest of our Rattlers. Each spring, our teaching teams engage in deep, meaningful conversations as they thoughtfully build class rosters for the upcoming school year. These discussions are rooted in data, professional insight, and a genuine understanding of each student as a learner. Teachers consider academic strengths, social development, learning styles, and peer dynamics to ensure students are placed in environments where they can continue to grow and thrive in the next grade level.

Our staff is collectively committed to providing an exceptional educational experience for every student at Midland. With this goal in mind, we will not be accepting individual teacher requests. This decision was made with great care to ensure that classroom placements are balanced and equitable across the entire grade level. Creating balanced and equitable classes ensures that every student benefits from a diverse, high-quality learning environment where they have the best possible opportunity to succeed.

I appreciate and value your continued trust and partnership as we move forward together to set your child up for a successful school year. Please know that our shared goal remains the same: to build learning environments that support the success, well-being, and growth of each and every Midland Rattler.
