Greetings, Midland Families!

Thank you to all of our Midland families who came out to Friday night’s annual Sock Hop Family Dance! It was such a fun evening filled with energy, laughter, and school spirit. Events like these are a wonderful reminder of the strong sense of community we share at Midland Elementary. A special thank you goes to our amazing PTA for their time, creativity, and hard work in organizing such a fantastic event.

As we head into the final week of school, I am looking forward to a positive and celebratory finish to another great year together. It has been especially exciting to see our 5th grade students enjoying their final days at Midland Elementary as they prepare for their next chapter. We are proud of all they have accomplished and look forward to celebrating them in the days ahead!

We want to continue to support all of our families as we make our way through this ever-evolving tech world. PTA will have a resource page on our website that can (continue to) help prepare you and your family for managing this digital space safely. You can find it at:

5th Grade Promotion!

PROMOTION: Can you believe promotion is right around the corner? We wanted to give you the low-down on the upcoming event!

Event Details: Wednesday, June 3rd 8:30am in the Midland Quad.  Gates open at 8:00am

Tickets:  Each student will receive four tickets to promotion.  Tickets will be sent home Friday, May 29th. All guests must have a ticket to enter.

Attire/Dress: Promotion is a special day for your fifth grader.  Although there is no specific dress code for the day - high heels are a safety hazard and we ask that they not be worn.

After the Promotion Ceremony: It is customary for students to be checked out after promotion to enjoy the day with their families. Parents MUST precheck out their child using this Google Form.

This is only intended for use with our promoting 5th graders. If families are checking out other students, they must do so in the front office after the promotion ceremony.

We are not permitting students in other grades to be checked out early for attendance to the promotion, but many will watch with their classes.

If your child will be staying after promotion, please let me know so arrangements can be made.

School on Thursday: Although our promotion ceremony is on Wednesday, Thursday is still a school day with a noon dismissal.  Please plan on having your child attend so we can wrap up the year and gather all of our belongings.

Last Day of School - minimum day

Friendly reminder: Thursday, June 4th is the last day of school and will be a minimum day schedule. Please click here to view the dismissal schedule.

A message from the Midland Library

All library books are due! Notices are being sent home for books that were missing as of Friday. Check under the couch! Check the car!

All 5th graders will be turning in their Chromebooks and chargers on Wed. 5/27. They will be issued new tech at Middle School.

3rd and 4th grade students who will not be returning to Midland, or another PUSD school, will also need to turn in their Chromebooks by 6/2.

Lost and Found Reminder

Our Lost and Found cart is filling up! We have quite a few items, sweatshirts, jackets, water bottles, and more that we’d love to return to their owners.

Please take a moment to check the Lost and Found cart located out front in the morning or afternoon. You might just find something that belongs to your student!

Thank you for helping us reunite these items with their homes. Any unclaimed items will be donated after 6/4/2026.

A message from the Midland Health Office

As we prepare for summer break, please make arrangements to pick up your child’s medication(s) from the school office. All medications must be picked up by the last day of school, Thursday, June 4.

Any medications remaining after this date will need to be discarded in accordance with district policy.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Parent & Community Liaisoin (Bilingual) apply now!

Midland Elementary is currently seeking a Parent & Community Liaison (Bilingual) to join our school team. This is a wonderful opportunity to support our students, families, and school community in a meaningful way.

If you or someone you know may be interested, we encourage you to apply using the link below. Thank you for helping us spread the word!

Remaining Funds on Student Cafeteria Account

Cafeteria account balances carry over from one school year to the next, and between school sites, as long as the student remains in PUSD.  If you are a family of students who will be graduating seniors or students leaving the District, you will need to request a refund of your unused balance or transfer the funds to a different meal account.  Instructions and the Refund/Transfer Request Form are available on the PUSD Food and Nutrition webpage

Friendly Reminder: “Away for the Day” Devices

At Midland Elementary, we are committed to creating a focused, engaging, and positive learning environment for all students. As a reminder, Midland supports the “Away for the Day” expectation for personal smart phones and smart watches.

If students bring these devices to school, they are expected to keep them stored in their backpacks until the end of the school day. This helps minimize distractions and supports student learning, social interaction, and engagement throughout the day.

Thank you for your partnership, understanding, and continued support in helping us maintain a positive learning environment for all students.

2026 - 2027 Class Placement Information

I want to share an important update regarding our class placement process for the 2026-2027 school year, as well as to provide insight into the thoughtful decisions that go into building balanced classes with the best interests of each student in mind.

At Midland, we are deeply committed to a culture of collaboration and intentionality, ensuring every decision we make is thoughtful and in the best interest of our Rattlers. Each spring, our teaching teams engage in deep, meaningful conversations as they thoughtfully build class rosters for the upcoming school year. These discussions are rooted in data, professional insight, and a genuine understanding of each student as a learner. Teachers consider academic strengths, social development, learning styles, and peer dynamics to ensure students are placed in environments where they can continue to grow and thrive in the next grade level.

Our staff is collectively committed to providing an exceptional educational experience for every student at Midland. With this goal in mind, we will not be accepting individual teacher requests. This decision was made with great care to ensure that classroom placements are balanced and equitable across the entire grade level. Creating balanced and equitable classes ensures that every student benefits from a diverse, high-quality learning environment where they have the best possible opportunity to succeed.

I appreciate and value your continued trust and partnership as we move forward together to set your child up for a successful school year. Please know that our shared goal remains the same: to build learning environments that support the success, well-being, and growth of each and every Midland Rattler.
